Home won't ever the be same without you

"Dogs aren't our whole lives, but they make our lives whole."

Comet Beggs - my favourite dog in the entire world.

She's my hairy sister...

...who loves naps...

...raking leaves...

...chewing sticks...

...and opening presents.

Her favourite place to run around is at the park...

...where she can also stand in the river....

...and do dog angels on the grass.

She's the best sister I could have asked for...

 ...she's our Boo.

"For those who love dogs, it would be the worst form of a lie to call any place where dogs were banned "Paradise." Certainly no loving God would separate people from their canine friends for eternity."

"Our animals shepherd us through certain eras of our lives. When we are ready to turn the corner and make it on our own... they let us go."

I love you Comet. I always will. More than you could ever know. Thanks for a wonderful 13 years of amazing memories. You'll remain in my heart forever and ever and ever.

Home from Van - Part 1/2

So-long Vancouver... for now. I'll be back in January, as I'll be working in Vancouver for my next co-op term! I'm really looking forward to returning. Just like Amsterdam, I fell in love with the city. So much to do and so many great people there. Not to mention the awesome hockey team! The mountains and the water are an incredible sight. The hiking and waterfront are gorgeous. The city is such a fun city with tons of things to do.

Sisterly love

I have one sibling. Unlike most siblings, my sibling is a canine. Nothing wrong with that. She's just hairy and has a tail. No big deal.

I love you Comet. So. Much.

We've had some good quality time on skype - great skype conversations I must say :)

Hang in there Boo... can't wait to see you Sunday xoxo

Whistler Warrior Dash

Fact. I feel like a Warrior. Matt, Pratik and I survived the WARRIOR DASH!

My Warrior Buddy Pratik and I

Another weekend in Whistler. The drive up is breath taking. The highway curves around a mountain and there are beautiful bodies of water and mountains (still ice-capped) the entire way  to Whistler. I would have taken pictures but both the ride there and back my camera was in the truck of my friend's car. We were very busy singing in the car anyway.

On our way to the Warrior Dash...

The dash was fun actually. It wasn't as intense as I anticipated. It was really hot that day though, and a 3.1 mile obstacle course did take quite a bit of energy - especially the first 1/3 being uphill.

Some of the obstacles included climbing over a wall using a rope, lots of netted climbing structures, a mud slip-n-slide, a set of sloped balance beams over a mud pit, running over logs set on fire... and the last was crawling under barbed wire through a mud pit. The mud pit actually hurt a lot - the mud was rough and had little sharp stones in it which hurt my knees so so much. Got a couple scrapes, but nothing a warrior can't handle. We all did the dash in less than an hour.

This is after the dash and after we had been "hosed off" with giant fire-fighter hoses. The water was freeezing cold, but unless you wanted to be covered in mud all evening (and I mean COVERED) you had to hose off. Matt has pictures of us right after the dash where we're dripping in mud. I'll try to get those pics from him. Here we're collecting our free beer!

Showin' off the horns :)

We stayed at Hotel Aava (which has a hot tub and outdoor pool... which is partly why we chose this hotel). After the dash on Saturday, we had dinner on the patio at Black's in Whislter Village. After that, we hit the hot tub for a couple hours back at the hotel, then went to a couple bars in the village.

It was a fun weekend!! I feel like such a warrior :)

Holiday Weekend!

I maxed out my storage space on my other blog, so I had to create this new blog which is really just a continuation of the old one (I had to do this for my Amsterdam blog as well last year).
-------------------

Loooooong weekend!! Ontario had their Civic Holiday this weekend, and we had BC Day!

Friday night I had friends over for dinner on my roof patio :)

Saturday I went to Scienceworld to see the dinosaur exhibit. Vancouver's Scienceworld is a lot smaller than the Ontario Science Centre. Saturday evening we hit Kits Beach...

...and saw the fireworks!! Every summer Vancouver hosts an international fireworks competition - Saturday night was China's fireworks show. Tons of fun.

Sunday afternoon was the Pride Parade downtown!

Part of the parade:

Sunday evening Emily, Lisa, Matt, Pratik and I went to Blarney Stone Irish Pub. They had a great band playing and we danced a lot. I didn't get home until after 3am - and slept in today and enjoy a relaxing holiday Monday :)
